Parent Engagement

Parents continue to be a vital partner in their child’s learning and in the Hampton Primary School community. We are actively promoting a wide range of opportunities for parents to engage in the school community where they feel most comfortable contributing to.

Our two primary connections for parents are our:

Parent Representatives

Parent Representatives, who focus on the connection, communication and support within the class group and then looking out at supporting the wider school community and the Parent Association.

Parents Association

The Parents Association focuses whole school opportunities to connect our community and fundraise for our school.

Parents can be directly involved with these to bodies within the school to a large or small extent or also contribute to the school or classroom in many other ways including:

Classroom Helpers

At Hampton we encourage all parents to be a part of the classroom environment and offer all parents a short ‘Parent Helper Course’. This two hour session with a focus on Literacy and Numeracy is a requirement for all parents to complete before helping in classrooms.

This course provides parents with a deeper understanding of our approach to Literacy and Numeracy along with insights and strategies to use in the classroom when supporting students.  It also outlines the expectations in regard to the activities, support for individuals and small groups and privacy and confidentiality.

We would not have excellence in education at Hampton Primary School without the valued input and contribution of our parent community and we encourage you to continue this involvement at our school.

Seesaw

We are excited to share our classroom learning with parents via the online platform Seesaw. Seesaw gives students tools to capture, reflect and share their learning.  This then offers parents a window into our classrooms and into your child’s learning.

It also provides opportunities for you to engage in conversations centered on your child’s learning. Families connect to their child’s Seesaw journal to participate in their student’s learning, see student work, and celebrate progress.

Some of these tasks are shared by Specialist teachers as celebrations and are not ‘corrected’ nor have feedback from teachers on Seesaw as this assessment and feedback occurs within the classroom and in learning conferences with students.  Other tasks are assessed by class teachers and students and the feedback is shared with you in Seesaw.

Student content in Seesaw is only accessible by teacher, student and by parents that have been approved. It isn’t public on the web and never shared with third parties. Parents will only get updates for their child and can only access their child’s work.

We encourage parents to engage with Seesaw and their child’s learning.

Compass

As part of our commitment to maintaining strong links between home and school we use the Compass platform as a central access point for all communication and information for our parent community.

Compass is the primary communication tool for Hampton Primary School and all school newsletters, notifications, excursion consents, payments, fees and student reports are only accessible via Compass.

Families have a unique family username and password which is provided to each family upon enrolment. You can access Compass via an App on your phone or the Compass website on a tablet or home computer.

Community Engagement

Community Engagement is a priority of our school. We seek to acheive positive community engagement in a range of ways including partnering with community groups, not-for-profit organsiations, sporting clubs and businesses. These differing groups utilise our grounds and facilities, provide learning opportunities for our students and work closely with our parent groups.

We seek to support our local businesses and those owned/engaged with by our current and past families. The Business Register that you find below is a place where families can promote their business and support other local businesses, and we encourage you to use it readily.

Should you wish to partner with our school in any way, please contact the office.
