Principal’s Message

Welcome to the Hampton Primary School website; I hope you find it both informative and insightful.

I am proud to be the Principal of a school with such a rich history of success and an exciting future. Our school strives to ensure that each child can reach their fullest potential socially, emotionally, academically and creatively.

The culture of our school and our priorities for our students are reflected strongly through our norms, namely: Collaboration, Aspiration, Integrity and Resilience.

A strong emphasis on Collaboration is visible in the partnerships we foster with our families and the broader community to support and enrich the education of our students. Parents are not only welcomed as part of our school but encouraged to take an active role in their child’s learning. They are empowered through active representation in a wide range of committees and groups, informed through continuous assessment and reporting and involved in a great number of school-programs. Our collaboration with community groups provides authenticity to learning experiences for our students and a sense of connectedness with our neighbourhood. Between students, collaboration exists within and across classrooms in an array of co-curricular programs and student leadership opportunities.

Aspiration is manifested through a culture of high expectations for all students and staff in all curriculum areas. An unrelenting emphasis on ensuring our students are highly literate and numerate forms a strong basis for them then to apply these skills in authentic and challenging tasks and across different contexts. Our students are not only exposed to a wide range of learning experiences but provided specific opportunities to excel and be extended in Music, Sport and Mandarin. Staff participate in regular and rigorous Professional Learning that ensures our students are supported by practitioners at the top of their game. A large Leadership Team is a key enabler to the proficiency of our staff.

Integrity underpins the manner in which we engage with each other and approach learning tasks. Students learn about and understand the role they have in acting with strong morals, being positive role models for each other and the importance of inclusivity and compassion. Leadership opportunities throughout the school and our engagement with the community provide practical experiences and allow students to further foster this attribute.

Resilience is both explicitly and implicitly taught at all year levels and in all subject areas. Supported by evidence-based programs, students learn how to engage in productive struggle, overcome adversity, empathise with others and learn from mistakes. A growth-mindset is celebrated, ensuring students have an understanding of both their current strengths and how they can improve other areas of learning.

And whilst the culture of our school is a key enabler to the remarkable results our students achieve, we are committed to continuously reflecting on practise, welcoming feedback and modeling life-long learning so that we continue to improve to ensure our students receive the most outstanding education.
